The public beta came out on 7 February 2026 (newsroom entry). In the App Store it is called “Janitor: Interactive Stories”, publisher — JanitorAI, INC; on 13 September 2026 the rating was 4.41 with 3,197 ratings, age category 17+. A week before the release the service wrote: “the only official app is published by Janitor AI Inc — if you see something else, it is not us”.

How to spot a fake

An example from the store

A search for “janitor ai” in the App Store returns, next to the official app, “J.AI — AI Friends Chat” by Shaanxi Ming Lei Ou Network Technology Co.LTD with a similar icon and 2,831 ratings. It is not Janitor. Check the publisher, not the name.

The app link is on the official site; any “Janitor AI APK” from a third-party site is someone else's build that will get your login.

Restricted mode on mobile

According to the post “How Content Moderation Works on Mobile” (04.02.2026), the app runs a strict filter by default: bots with a high content score are hidden, descriptions and names are filtered, chat messages are checked by keywords. That is the price of being in the stores. The restrictions can be lifted only on the site: janitorai.com/profile-settings → content settings; after that the app syncs with the site.
