The service's own wording on motivation: the subscription exists to “get more out of Janitor”, not to remove artificial limits; “the version you know stays free”. The price, the service says, is calculated “to break even” on GPUs.
The hidden part of the price
If the free model is not enough, the second checkout is your own API key or Router credits: both are paid on top of the subscription at the models' rates. The real cost of a “good” Janitor is the subscription plus the model spend.
